Green Energy in Action: KONČAR and the Transition to Renewable Energy Sources

The KONČAR Group is one of the most famous and oldest Croatian industrial companies it has been around for more than 100 years! Today, KONČAR is playing a big role in Croatia’s move toward a greener and more sustainable future.

One of their coolest projects is the Vis Solar Power Plant, which is actually the biggest solar power plant in Croatia. It has a capacity of 3.5 MW and even has an energy storage system built in. This plant provides almost half of the electricity needed on the island of Vis! Thanks to smart digital systems, the energy production is monitored and adjusted in real time, making it super efficient.

In addition to solar energy, KONČAR is also investing in wind power. A great example is the Pometeno Brdo wind farm, which has a capacity of 20 MW. KONČAR has installed advanced digital systems there too, to make sure the turbines work as efficiently as possible and produce as much green energy as they can.

KONČAR isn’t stopping there — they’re working on even more new green energy projects, such as:

  • The Čakovec Solar Power Plant (11 MWp)
  • The Rust Wind Farm in Sinj (120 MW)
  • Several new solar power plants in places like Stare Plavnice, Gospić, Cernik, Biljane Gornje, and Raduč.

On top of that, KONČAR is developing new technologies, like underwater generators for hydroelectric power plants, which help make energy production even more eco-friendly.

By doing all of this, KONČAR is helping to reduce CO₂ emissions and support the green economy in Croatia. Investing in renewable energy doesn’t just help the environment it also makes the country more energy independent.

All these projects show us that green energy isn’t only the future it’s already happening right now in Croatia!
